Wow .... made it back home in one piece and couldnt wait ! Mumbai was getting a little more than hectic and the thought of the lovely english countryside was always on our minds. The flight was great, good old BA ! ten h..

As you may have noticed from our absence we have decided to get out of the daily grind, to explore some of the world. We have key destinations as described below, but the rest of our travels are open to change!

During our journey we will be visiting the following places:
Phoenix, Arizona
New Zealand

From Thailand we hope to travel onwards through the following countries:

Japan (not enough money !)
Tibet (not enough warm clothing !!)
Possibly Nepal (not enough time !!!)

These might change depending on our finances, weather, exhaustion, etc but we will keep you posted of our progress as we hope to update our site every couple of weeks with more pictures and journal entries (you will get an email when there is an update).

We hope you are all doing well. Please continue to email as we enjoy hearing about all that is happening while we are away.
On your first visit please leave a message on the messageboard. We want to make sure the email has worked ... thanks.

On June 17, 1631 Mumtaz Mahal died, after delivering her fourteenth child 'Gauharar'. Shahjahan stood dazed, unable to comprehend the situation. She had died leaving all her children, mother, and relations to his care. But he had promised her never to remarry and to build the grandest mausoleum over her grave. Her body received a temporary burial in the Zainabadi Garden in Burhanpur and in six months time removed to Agra. Shahjahan had already acquired from Raja Jai Singh a plot of land on the riverside. Here was to be built the Taj Mahal. Work on the tomb started in a frenzy with thousands of artisans and laborers toiling ceaselessly. The first anniversary urs was held in June 1632 amid royal pomp and show, attended by Shahjahan and Jahanara. The Mughal Emperor was a picture of grief.and this is the first view you get as you walk under the gatewayto stand looking at this sight is an amazing feeling ... it is something everyone should experience ..

In the midst of this sea of people, suddenly you come face to face with the ramparts of the Red Fort. The decision for constructing the fort was taken in 1639, when Shahjahan decided to shift his capital to Delhi. Within eight years, Shahjahanabad was completed with the Red Fort-Qila-i-Mubarak (fortunate citadel)-Delhi's seventh fort, ready in all its magnificence to receive the Emperor. Though much has changed now because of large-scale demolitions during the British occupation of the fort, its important structures have survived, the glory faded with age but still impressive
