wish you were here ! its a hard life .....Sail Rock dive site near Ko Phangan and Samui ... rough trip out and visibility was poor .. but so many fishpicture of Sail Rock .. these are not mine just borrowed from a local siteon the way to Bangkok train station ... not sure which way to go !
this is not our way ... maybe Garythis is Bangkok railway stationand this is where you find the snack food ..a typical street in Chiang Mai which is surrounded by a canalChiang Mai is known for its temples ... and we stayed very close to the oldest in the city (names to follow!)
this temple was ruined by an earthquake but is being restoredits a shame the other three sides are ruinedtiff ... feeling a little tired
and at the food market it seems to be spreadingwe decided to take a Thai cooking class ... first stop, the food marketand here is Tiff in total control ....and Paul .. a south of Chiang Mai we went trekking ... but not by foot
around this mountainand down some steep runs .. which were a little scary at timesbut the views were worth the ridenext stop was a visit to the local hill tribes
a little better than our guesthouse .... :o)where everyone is busy making something for the farang (tourists)not the cleanest flute we then walked through the jungleto visit the Mong tribe that live in this lovely location
the day before we left we rented a bike and visited a large temple overlooking Chiang Maithe veiw of Chiang Mai ... a little hazy which is a shameeven the monks like the view ... smile !every man has to join three times before getting married from between one year to one day !!
the main budda is surrounded by smaller ones and various chapelsnothing like a good blessing ....
this is the main temple on top of the hill overlooking Chiang MaiPaul and Tiff .... templed out !!there were a number of young girls begging on the temple steps ... reciting anything and everthing they knew in english for a few baht!well .... this is the slow boat
and this the lovely Mekong River ... a little muddy and very fast moving this is not Pak Beng but it looks very much the sameand this is the view on the boat , four across with a nice little toilet at the backthis is the view of the very peaceful Luang Prabang and the Mekong
